A large mass of cattails and grass and small trees broke loose and drifted with the current. It was caught by the trestle.
Several volunteers gathered to use hooks to break up and remove chunks of the mass. In a full day, about half of the mass was removed.
As the mass was removed, it opened up so that water can pass by and under the trestle.
Work will continue as needed to remove the remaining mass and protect the trestle that has been a part of Clear Lake for many years.
